Fall is my favorite season! The chilly weather, the festive mood in the air, and the many, many reasons to be grateful, fills my heart with a need to connect and celebrate. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I put together three easy decorating tips to create a modern, neutral fall tablescape. Hopefully these beautiful pieces from The Company Store® will be a joyful centerpiece for your family gatherings for years to come.
My inspiration for this neutral modern palette came from a desire to simplify. I wanted to tie in classic, staple, worthy-of-investment pieces that work all year round. A neutral palette lets you easily transition from season to season by simply changing your accent pieces. The keys to a modern neutral fall tablescape are layering, textures, and incorporating colors into the rest of the room.
Tip 1: Modern Neutral Fall Layers
When working with a neutral palette, layering is everything! I used to think whites, ecru, and tans clashed, but that’s not the case. A neutral palette gets its richness and fullness from layering these colors and textures. Don’t be afraid to mix stone, marble, and other textured dishes to add to the robust layers. Mixing two sets of dishes? Perfect! Just make sure the same style carries throughout (example, use all salad plates from one collection and dinner plates from another). To tie in the fall look, I used florals and accent pieces. I chose pampas grass and autumn-colored tree pods for a modern fall flavor.

Leaf Napkin Rings
Tip 2. Texture & Mixed Metals
Just like we mixed neutrals for the tablescape, mixed metal accent pieces add another layer of interest to the table. I used gold utensils and silver napkin rings for a mixed metal look. The candle in gold and brass carries the theme throughout. I also styled the bar cart with a few of the mixed metal accent pieces to continue the theme.
Tip 3: Incorporate Your Color Scheme Throughout the Room
To finish the look I recommend carrying your color scheme carefully throughout the room. In our case, adding curtains to the space made a huge difference. I couldn’t believe how our dining room popped by simply hanging floor to ceiling curtains. Even if you also have plantation shutters like we do, neutral curtains frame the room to perfection. Hanging curtains taller and wider than your window makes the room appear bigger.
I hope you enjoyed learning more about this space as much I enjoyed creating it. I cannot wait to see what you style for your Thanksgiving gathering! Hop over to my Instagram to check out more behind the scenes footage about our neutral dining space!
